A COSINE vector index exists, but a query explicitly orders by EUCLIDEAN distance. Why should the team inspect its execution plan rather than assume this index is used?
Published
- Query aliases automatically rewrite distance metrics
- All vector indexes require the query to omit ORDER BY
- EUCLIDEAN queries are always evaluated without table access
- The query distance must be compatible with the index distance for that indexed search path
